Giant Hypermarket

Giant was established in 1944 by the Teng family in Kuala Lumpur.

Giant was acquired by the Dairy Farm Group, Hong Kong in 1999 through GCH Retail (M) Sdn. Bhd. when it entered the Malaysian market.

Today, Giant is Malaysia's leading retailer offering customers value-for-money through low-cost, efficient distribution of foods and consumer goods in its supermarkets and hypermarkets.

There are over 120 Giant hypermarkets and supermarkets nationwide.

Giant collaborated with the Malaysian Government to launch numerous campaigns that brought prices of daily essentials and consumables to even lower levels, including a price subsidy campaign for fresh produce.

Since 2005, Giant has been offering suppliers development programmes to help, particularly SMEs, to improve production processes and marketing knowledge through various government agencies and industry associations.

To support Malaysian-made products, especially those manufactured by SMEs, Giant organizes special promotional events locally and abroad.

Recognising the importance of the development of the Malaysian agricultural sector, Giant has teamed with the Federal Agricultural and Marketing Authority (FAMA), to promote Malaysian-grown fresh produce and fruit at all its stores.
