Persatuan Peguam Syarie Malaysia (PGSM)

Also known as the Shariah Lawyers Association of Malaysia.

Persatuan Peguam Syarie Malaysia (PGSM) was established in 2001 as a non-governmental organisation (NGO). This lawyer's association comprises of Shariah lawyers (Malay: Peguam syarie) who are practicing in Syariah courts in Malaysia.

The main objective of Persatuan Peguam Syarie Malaysia (PGSM) is to strengthen and foster relationships among peguam syarie in the best interest of peguam syarie and Islamic law which is hukum syarak (Islamic law according to any recognised Mazhab).

Membership of the association is not compulsory. To be eligible for membership registration, an applicant must satisfy the following requirements:
  • a citizen of Malaysia;
  • a Muslim; and
  • a Shariah law practitioner; or
  • holder of a bachelor degree or diploma in Syariah conferred by institute of higher learning in Malaysia or abroad.

University or university college students who wish to register will need to obtain a written approval from the vice-chancellor.

One-time registration fee is RM20 and the annual entrance fee is RM50.
