World Heart Federation (WHF)

An international nongovermental organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland, dedicated to the prevention and control of cardiovascular disease around the world. It is a membership organisation that brings together the strength of the medical community (societies of cardiology) with the public health community (heart foundations). WHF's mission is to help people achieve a longer and better life through prevention and control of heart disease and stroke, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries. World Heart Day, organised by the World Heart Federation and its members and co-sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNESCO to increase public awareness and promote preventative measures to reduce cardiovascular disease and stroke.
