Majlis Bandaraya Miri

Also known as the Miri City Council (MCC) in English. Established in 1933 as the Miri Municipal Board (Lembaga Perbandaran Miri). It was re-constituted and became Miri Urban District Council (Majlis Bandaran Miri) on January 1, 1956. The Council was renamed Miri District Council (Majlis Daerah Miri) in 1961 and Miri Municipal Council on November 6, 1981. Miri was recognised as a city on May 20, 2005 and the council was upgraded to Miri City Council. Majlis Bandaraya Miri which is under the purview of the Ministry of Environment and Public Health (KASKA) Sarawak, is the main organisation managing the development of the Miri city. The main function of Miri City Council is providing public services and managing events and affairs of Miri city. The services provided by Miri City Council are rubbish collecting, providing street lighting, maintenance of roads & drains, managing the disposal and conservancy system, collecting of assessment rates, bills under the authority of Miri City Coucil.
