Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC)

Established in October 1998 to develop and operate a voluntary national timber certification scheme in Malaysia. Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC) is governed by a Board of Trustees (appointed by the Minister of Plantation Industries and Comodities) and started its operation in January 1999. It is an independent organisation that provides independent assessments of forest management practices as well as to meet the demand for certified timber products. Timber certification is a market-linked tool to promote and encourage sustainable forest management as well as to provide an assurance to buyers that the timber products they buy come from sustainably managed forests.
