Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF)
Also known as Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM) in Malay term. RMAF was formed on June 2, 1958 when the Air Force Ordinance 1958 was passed by the Parliament and it was then known as the Royal Malayan Air Force. The role of the RMAF is to prepare, maintain and operate an air force that is ready and able to project aerospace power in order to promote and protect the national interests. The RMAF rank structure was based on the British Royal Air Force until 1983 when it decided to change its rank to follow the Army rank insignia with pips and crowns. The official site features history of RMAF, organisation, leadership, rank and trade, training and career.
