Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA)

Also known as the Kementerian Hal Ehwal Dalam Negeri (KHEDN) in Malay. Established in March 1951 as the Department of Home Affairs. In 1955, renamed the Ministry of Home Affairs. In July 1958, again renamed the Interior and Justice Ministry. In August 1959, the Ministry was split into the Interior Ministry and Justice Ministry. The Internal Security Ministry was set up end of 1959 and merged with the Interior Ministry in 1965 and renamed the Ministry of Home Affairs. One of the most senior ministries in Malaysia. It is responsible for ensuring that the policies and laws relating to citizenship and national registration are in line with the current needs of the country. Its agencies include the Immigration Dept, NRD, Registry of Societies, RELA and Film Control. KKDN and KHEDN merged on March 18, 2008 and known as Home Ministry (KDN).
