Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR)

IDFR was established under the Prime Minister's Department on July 1, 1991 and officially launched on August 12, 1991. On March 27, 2004, IDFR offcially became part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia. IDFR provides basic training for future diplomats of Malaysia and several selected developing countries, as well as to provide follow-up training for those officers already in the diplomatic service. It also offers a one-year masters degree programme for those wishing to pursue postgraduate studies in international relations, strategy and diplomacy. Training is offered through courses, seminars, workshops, conferences and consultancy services, for officials, diplomatic or otherwise, from Malaysia as well as other developing countries.
