Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)

Also known as the Agensi Kelayakan Malaysia (AKM) in Malay term. Officially launched on November 2, 2007. Established under the Malaysian Qualifications Agency Act 2007, a result of merger between National Accreditation Board (Lembaga Akreditasi Negara-LAN) and Quality Assurance Division (QAD) of the Ministry of Higher Education. QAD was established in April, 2002 while LAN was established on July 8, 1996 through the National Accreditation Board Act 1996 (repealed in 2007) as a statutory body. MQA will implement the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF), a unified system and reference point for all national qualifications which would be a basis for quality assurance in higher education that matched with the international benchmark.
