Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA)

Also known as the Council of Trust for the Bumiputera in English term. An agency under the MECD, established as a statutory body on March 1, 1966 by an Act of Parliament by resolution of the first Bumiputera Economic Congress, 1965. Establishment of MARA is to replace RIDA to remedy the socio-economic imbalance of bumiputera in commercial and industrial sectors. The main objective of MARA is to motivate, guide, train and assist bumiputeras to participate actively and progressively in both commercial and industrial enterprises, towards creating a strong and viable business community (BCIC).
