Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG) Kampus Sultan Abdul Halim

Also known as the Sultan Abdul Halim Teachers' Training Institute in English. The first teachers' training institution built in Kedah. A plan to build a teachers' training college in Sungai Petani, Kedah was drawn in 1976. Simultaneously, the college commenced operation in Penang as Northam Road Teachers' College (Malay: Maktab Perguruan Jalan Northam). In 1979, the college was relocated from Jalan Northam, Penang to Sungai Petani, Kedah. The college was known as the Sungai Petani Teachers' College then and later renamed Sultan Abdul Halim Teachers' Training College. In April 2006, the college status was being upgraded to an institution.
