Malaysian Examinations Council
Also known as the Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia (MPM) in Malay term. MPM is a statutory body under the Ministry of Education and was established on February 1, 1989 under the Malaysian Examinations Council Act 1980. The council was assigned the functions of handling and conducting Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) and Malaysian University English Test (MUET). The STPM examination begins in 1982 replacing the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan (STO) by Cambridge University. The council also formulates the school syllabus, setting the examination questions, conducting and supervising the examinations.
