Tribunal For Consumer Claims (TCC) Malaysia

Also known as Tribunal Tuntutan Pengguna Malaysia (TTPM) in Malay term.

The Tribunal for Consumer Claims is an independent body established under the Consumer Protection Act 1999, under the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-Operatives and Consumerism.

The primary objective of establishing the Tribunal is to hear and determine claims lodged by consumer under the Consumer Protection Act 1999. The Tribunal for Consumer Claims Malaysia provides an alternative forum for consumer to file claims in an easy, inexpensive and speedy manner and at minimal cost.

The total amount claimed must not exceed RM25,000 and the claim must be based on cause of action which accrues within three (3) years.

The Tribunal has the jurisdiction to hear any claim in respect of any goods or services for which no redress mechanism is provided for under any other written law.

The Tribunal has no jurisdiction to hear any claim:
  • arising from personal injury or death;

  • for the recovery of land or any estate or interest in land;

  • dispute in respect of title of any land or estate or interest in land;

  • dispute concerning the entitlement of any person under a will or on any intestacy;

  • dispute on matter in respect of: franchise, good will, trade secrets or other intellectual property or any chose in action

  • where any other tribunal has been established under any other written law to hear and determine claims on matters which is the subject matter of such claim.
