Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad (MISC Berhad)
was established on November 6, 1968 via a joint venture between the Malaysia Government and a group of private entrepreneurs. MISC commenced national liner services in 1970 and received quota at Far Eastern Freight Conference and entered into pooling arrangements with conference members.

In 1983, MISC took delivery of its first LNG tanker, Tenaga Satu and delivered the first cargo for Malaysia LNG.
