Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID)
Commonly known as the Pertubuhan Perekabentuk Dalaman Malaysia (PPDM) in Malay. PPDM is the national institute representing the interior design profession in Malaysia. It is an amalgamation of two previous bodies namely, Interior Designers Institute of Malaysia (Institut Pereka Dalaman Malaysia or IPDM) and the Malaysian Society of Interior Designers (MSID). IPDM was set up in 1990 and officially launched in 1992 to promote and enlarge the knowledge, study and practice of interior design. It aimed to provide a forum for interior designers in a learned and scientific society to discuss the arts and crafts, besides defining the code of practice and qualifying the profession of interior design. The role of IPDM was to assist and advise the government, local authorities and other private and public bodies on issues relating to the art and science of interior and environmental design. The Malaysian Interior Design Awards (MIDA) are awarded annually to promote design and industry excellence.
