The Largest Suit

US$675,000,000,000,000 is the highest damages amount ever sought. The amount at that time was equivalent to 10 times the US national wealth.

The suit was brought in the US District Court, New York City, USA by Mr. I. Walton Bader against General Motors and others on 14 April 1971 for polluting all 50 states.

The Highest Cost For Manhunt

In police history, the most expensive man hunt cost £4 million. The manhunt was terminated on 13 June 1981 with Peter William Sutcliffe "Yorkshire Ripper" arrested in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

He was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years for 13 murders and 7 attempted murders, which orphaned 25 children.

The trial was held at Old Bailey, London and cost £250,000.
