The law of Spain is heavily influenced by the Napoleonic Code with some elements of the Castilian traditions.

The Supreme Court of Spain, locally called the Tribunal Supremo is the highest court for all judicial matters in Spain while the Constitution Court of Spain is not part of the Spanish judiciary.

A lawyer whether practicing and non-practicing is known as an 'abogado' in Spain. An abogado licensed to practise law in Spain must be registered with a mandatory local bar association. The legal profession in Spain is represented by the Spanish General Advocacy Council (Abogacía Espanola Consejo General) at national level.
