Termination notice query

I have been doing administrative work at a non-profit organisation for 10.5 months and have a monthly salary of RM1800. Due to non-agreement over some terms in the appointment and confirmation letters, and the Management's slow response in discussing the matters, I have not signed any contract.

I am planning to resign from this organisation. The Notice of Termination was one of the terms I disagreed with (3 months in the confirmation letter). Since I have not signed any contract, how much notice do I have to give them?

Can I follow the Termination Notice guideline in the Employment Act 1955 (4 weeks' notice for less than 2 years' service)? There seems to be some confusion over whether I'm covered by the Act: most people I've asked say the limit is RM1500 but the FAQ section (Question 11) of the Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Semenanjung Malaysia <> states that from 1 April 2012, the limit is RM2000.

Would really appreciate some clarification & advice.

Hi there

Your correct. The law now is that your covered by EA 1955 is your salary is not more than RM 2,000. As such you can give 4 weeks notice.
