Is secretly recording conversation between employer and employee illegal? Is it corporate espionage?

Is it illegal to secretly record conversations (tapping) between employer and employee by the employee in the employer's office using small voice recorder?

Is the voice a copyrighted material?

Could this be considered as corporate espionage and can result in disciplinary action?

It is not stipulated in any of employment acts but some employers use the recording tape as a reference of their DI which may later be able to assist them in their decision making.

Do you know the meaning of corporate espionage?

in the employer's office using small voice recorder?
This act in itself warrants termination of any employment contract.

Is the voice a copyrighted material?
Is vocal cords a material? Voice frequency can be altered by experts.

If you have been doing some of the above actions, you appear to have problems with your working life. There would be no wonder that you have relationship problems with your employers.

It is in the employer's office. Employees are paid to work by the hours, minutes or seconds, not to do silly acts of aggression!

Shahark, with respect to the above answers, I have to disagree with some of them. While it is not stated in the legislation of Malaysia about secret recordings - it may violate the terms of your employment and also, may be unethical. Hence, it may be a ground for disciplinary action to be taken by your employer and it may also be implied that your employment relationship has broken down. 
Hence, in context of disciplinary proceedings - yes, it may be taken against you.
