I am married and am going through a divorce but I'm pregnant with my boyfriend's baby, final judgment will not be so soon. My question is:

1. Can I register the baby with my boyfriend as the father?

Would like some advice on my issues. Thanks.

You can register your baby with your boyfriend as the father. But can get into trouble in your divorce petition if your ex-husband contests.

I heard that registering a newborn needs both the identity cards (ICs) from wife and husband. And it's linked to the marriage status.

What will happen if @Suzzie gives her IC as well as her boyfriend's IC and found out by the officer of Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) that the boyfriend is not the husband of @Suzzie?

Civil law, a jail term for either one or both of them and the newborn will be sent to the Welfare Department.

Read the Marriage and Divorce Laws carefully.

Under Muslims Syariah Laws, when "hudud" is in place, stoning to death for the woman.

But the Man gets scot-free if he gets another man's wife pregnant.

Such is the LAW HERE..

Yes this will happens, JPN systems shows. But still can register boyfriend as the father under Seksyen 13. Get a contact of social service worker, whom willing to help fellow Malaysians in getting birth certificate and IC, go with them to JPN to apply birth certificate. They will help you.

Great to belong baby, not all of us have this blessing.

A simple plus effective way of resolving the above

1. Register child birth as single mother
2. After divorce, re-marry (the father of the child)
3. The Father adopt the child legally and add name of father on BC.
4. The child is a citizen of Malaysia by Law at birth.
