I am a British (non-Muslim) guy and my fiancee is Syrian (Muslim). We are not residents in Malaysia but we need to get a marriage certificate from one of the Islamic courts for family reasons. Can we register our marriage in any Islamic Court in Malaysia? What are the procedures/papers needed?

Thank you very much for replying!

No. You have to convert first.

I'm a Christian and my fiance is an Arab Muslim. In Malaysian law, you have to convert to Islam. I'm also having headache as my fiance wants to get married as soon as possible. Maybe we'll do it in Singapore but not sure though. I just want to get married but the process is too complicated in Malaysia.

Malaysian law,
Not Malaysian Law but Muslim Syariah Law.

as my fiance wants to get married as soon as possible
What's the hurry?

Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia allows interfaith marriages. It is ultimately where the two of you decide to settle down is the issue. The religion and citizenship of any children is at stake.

In some Arab countries, the man can marry non-Muslim but the children must have Muslim name. Whereas the Muslim woman cannot marry outside of the religion.

In Indonesia, a non-Muslim man can marry a Muslim woman. But the the children of this union must have Indonesian name and embrace Islam religion (Sunni Sect). In short, born into the religion.

It is actually not complicated to marry a Muslim. The non-Muslim has to convert.
