Looking for the best option, here's my situation.
My wife and I are in our mid-50's and are both Canadian citizens. I was born Canadian and my wife was born a Malaysian citizen (in 1958) but became a Canadian citizen 9 years ago, 7 years before we married. We would both like to relocate to Malaysia permanently within the next 2-3 years to be closer to her family in KL. While I am aware of the Malaysia My Second Home program and can qualify for it I would prefer not to. We would like to find some method of acquiring permanent residency in Malaysia. I know that my wife still has her expired Malaysian passport but since dual citizenship is not an option with Malaysia it's probably not of much worth to us.
Are there any good ideas out there for the best means of relocating? Could my wife renounce her Canadian citizenship and revert back to being a Malaysian? Could she simply ignore the fact that she became a Canadian and return to Malaysia as a Malaysian. Could we get PR sponsorship from her family in Malaysia? Any suggestions?
