I'm from Iraq . I studied in Malaysia from 2011 to 2016 without any issue. In 2019, I returned to Malaysia to get married while on a 30-day tourist visa. Due to some personal issues, I overstayed for about 1 month after my visa expired. So, I went to the Immigration Department in Putrajaya and surrendered my self and submitted a letter with the reason for my 1-month overstayed and the required documents to them.. but I still got a 3 years black list stamped on my passport when I left Malaysia.

Now, 1 year has passed and I heard that there is a legal way maybe to shorten my black list term, so here I am asking if there is really a legal way and what's the procedure if there is a way.

Thank you in advanced.

@ahmed tahseen

In 2019, I returned to Malaysia to get married
Did you manage to get married or even have made an application to the Islamic Religious Dept? Or you are marrying a Malaysian Chinese/Indian or other ethnicity other than Muslim woman?

I heard that there is a legal way maybe to shorten my black list term
True.. But in Immigration Laws worldwide, there is always stated an option to appeal against blacklisting but never state the terms and conditions of the appeal.
Do not be scammed or cheated by people.

@jeff005

1. I didn't manage to get married in Malaysia. I did get married though in Indonesia and my wife is an Indonesian who used to work in Malaysia and both of us are now in Indonesia.

2. Regarding the appeal, do you have any idea to whom I can send it or how to contact the correct person? because I have no idea how to do it or where to get started.

3. Does hiring a lawyer give me good result and if so, can you recommend me a lawyer who knows how to deal with immigration blacklist cases?

Thank you!

Immigration hates any type of lawyers and agents.
Moreover you would be easily legally 'scammed' by lawyers.
Your case is totally useless for appeals.

do you know any idea
For the past 5 years, I have been in discussion with many "victims" and have helped them to start the appeal to bring back their blacklisted spouses. Some of them did update me later of changes of policies.
I cannot find those posts, too many for me to find and read backwards.
Kindly find it yourself. But for you, it is totally useless.

99.99% of overstay blacklisting appeals fails. The 0.01% succeeded because:
1. They were married before the blacklist was levied on them.
2. They have a child born in Malaysia and is living inside Malaysia.
3. The spouse must produce proof of financial strength to sponsor the foreigner husband/wife.
4. Any such type of appeals needs documents from 3 Government Agencies not just Malaysia Immigration.

Do not fall prey to scamming individuals.. !!
