Can a foreigner who is deported from Malaysia re-enter Malaysia?

If a foreigner is involved in small crime like few times, he or she can be deported from Malaysia. If the person is involved in a few crimes, the Malaysia Immigration office will decide the how many years the foreigner cannot come into Malaysia after getting sentence by the court? I heard that even if foreigners have multiple crimes, they did not get RAI, so they could get into Malaysia like after 10 years. I heard that it depends on the situation.
