I have been staying in Malaysia for 12 years+. I was born and raised here and have been using student visa since Primary one. I was not granted to renew my student visa in the year 2015 because I did not meet the Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia requirements. I had been overstaying since then. Even so, I was able to take my SPM and finished it in year 2016. I would like to go back to my home country this 2018 but am afraid of the high penalty fine I will get from Malaysia Immigration. I really cannot afford to pay if the fines reach at least RM900. Does anyone know what is my roughly fine from the Immigration if I surrender? And what are the steps I should take to surrender?

Please help me as I just want to return to my home country safely. My passport expires in January 2019. Thank you

1.  Go to your embassy to get latest info.
2.  Go for the 3+1 Surrender before 30/06/2018. The penalties should not be over RM1k.

@jeff005, I've called Immigration and they said there might be changes to the 3+1 programme due to the election :(

Thank you so much for your help!

Hi @ellawong012,

May I ask what the Immigration officer told you exactly? Also do you mind sharing the number you called, I want to call them after the election to be sure. I was planning to go home through 3+1 in June but now you say they are saying things might change.

@Ryan,

The officer said to call before surrendering because of the possible changes due to election. I used 03-88801298. You have to be patient on the phone as they sometimes will not answer and would pass you to other lines and no one would pick up. Have to keep trying.

I can let you know by end of May after I call if you want.

I'll give them a call soon ans update the conversation. Did they mention détails ? Now that we know the opposition won the élection, does that mean the 3+1 will be changed?

Do you people mean that laws will change, especially immigration laws, whenever there are changes in Government? With this type of mentality, how are you people going to find ways of going back to your country without Jail and Whipping..
