Unpaid Leave - Salary deducted weekend

I have an inquiry regarding Unpaid Leave.

Last year December 2017, I took unpaid leave, which was approved by my boss. When my salary out, I realise that I was deducted more days then what I have taken. After checking with our HR dept, my salary was deducted including Sat & Sunday. HR told me that it was under employment law that if I took Friday to Monday off, then the Sat & Sun is also deductible as they use the calculation of 31 days.

Unpaid leave : 15th to 28th Dec
Total Working Days : 9 days unpaid leave
Salary deduction : 11 days (incl Sat & Sun)

Could you please advise if my HR calculation is correct?

For utilizing unpaid leave the above computations is correct.

Under labour laws, for every 6 days you have worked, you have to be given 1  PAID off day. Since your leave was past 2 weekends you have no off days and it is correct to use the December 31 days for this purpose. You should have use Mon - Friday formula, even then, they can deduct some days off.

Annual leave is different treatment.
