I have a friend from UK. I knew him from Instagram. He told me he works as Petroleum Engineer. 2 weeks ago he sent a gift to me before he went to Bolivia for offshore Contract.

A few day later I got a call from a courier agent from Malaysia. She asked me to pay around USD 1,226 to claim the gift. I paid them because my friend from UK asked me to pay and told me he already put money in the gift for me to claim my money back. He told he gave money to me as surprise gift. I was just surprised at the time.

After I made the payment to the courier agent, they called me again and told there are money in USD currency in the gift. I must pay them the money because if not they will make a report that the money is smuggled. This time, they asked me to pay around USD 3,679.17. I told my UK friend about that. He just asked me to find the money to claim the gift. I'm really afraid at the time. I borrowed money from my family but they did not know the real situation I have to face. I've also used all monies in my savings.

After I made the second payment they told they will deliver the gift coming morning. But once again the courier agent called me again she told I need to pay money for GST because the money in the gift is very huge amount. It can buy one house. I was very shocked. I asked my UK friend again... he told me he put huge amount of money in the gift because he wants me to help him to buy house at Malaysia. I told the courier agent I have no money anymore. She told me to pay around 36791.75 if not the money will be confiscated by Bank Negara.

She then told me that she'll help me make an appeal to pay less. My UK friend forces to find the money to claim the gift. He does not want me to lose all the money in the gift parcel. He further told me that I can claim back the money I've paid after I receive the gift.

I try to call the agent courier but cannot be reached until today. I really do not know what to do. I've already lost all my money. Please help me. Thanks.

How to prevent this from happening?
You people made it happened, how to prevent?

If you know the guy and end up people calling you
If you did not give your personal contact number and address, how can others call or send you drugs? Why need to give address? If he/she comes, ask to post the AirTicket and flight number. Do your own checking with the airport authorities here (online). If there is no flight delay, then go to the arrival hall to welcome him/her.

Can say don't want?
Why be Greedy? Take gifts from strangers?  There is no free lunches.  Free lunches can mean ending up in bed naked. Later naked pics appear online with blackmail demands. Inside the parcel may have hidden drugs not CASH..!!

You may notice there are postings that says  "My Boyfriend from overseas sent me a parcel". Wow, ever been hugged, even kissed by that bloke? Already call him boyfriend. Not shy kah? Don't even know how that bloke smells.

Lead a simple and free life and peace, happiness will follow you.

You need to thank God because he just cheated your money but not other things.. I got into the same situation similar like what you had written. I'm luckier than you. I should post the photo he used.

Like what the rest said, don't have free lunches nowadays. They are so handsome, how come no any girl friends around. Cannot be.. Please be alert when dealing with strangers.

By the way, how to upload the pictures? I don't see any button to do so.

Thank you for your words.

Yes, it already happened. It's a lesson learned in life. In the future, I just need to be careful and not trust people that I never meet easily. At first I still can not  believed that I was being scammed until I heard from one girl in the same situation like me. Yes, I was really a fool at that time because everything looked like real.

Just be on alert of the guys that scammed me. My friend told me, his Instagram account is still active and using same profile picture.

@ Young Girl,

See.. if one does not reply, you cannot be scammed. Yes, scammers can trace you once you reply to any of their postings. But if you do not give any address or contact numbers, who can find you? If @JUEMIHO gives her contact number to the delivery boy, he has her number and can do other things to try to scam her..!!

@All Victims

You ALL victims out there, post the pics of those scumbags who have scammed you. And how they do it. If you all do not group together there will be more and more  sweet young things, like you all being scammed by males?? Not necessary males.

No worries, they cannot sue a legal forum. But please la.. do not post pictures of our MPs here and accuse them of scamming.

If you are a sweet young thing, never, never trust even colleagues or college mates. Your mummy never teach? So many college girls were NOT raped by strangers but by  KNOWN people..!!

Go back and read the newspapers for the past few days. There is an official report by the Polis Department.

Don't just read on your mobile devices... Be Streetwise..
