I am a Malaysian Muslim who's going to marry a Christian Goan resident. I would like to enquire regarding process of marriage between Malaysian and Indian nationals and I had done some research regarding the documents needed for us to get married in Malaysia.

1. I understand that if my fiancee is coming to Malaysia and we marry here, he needs to get a 'No Objection Certificate' and 'Single Status certificate'. My soon-to-be husband has been going to some offices in Goa, but still unable to get proper info on the 2 certificates. I would like to ask which department he needs to go and apply for the 2 certificates and how is the process?

2. I understand that in Malaysia he needs to convert to Islam before we get married. We are planning to get him convert to Islam in Malaysia before our wedding. I would like to ask is there any possibility that he need to update all of his details (religion) in hid Passport/ID card/bank account/any legal documents?

I hope that my questions will be answered and thank you in advance for helping me.

1.  The two documents he needed are only available from the embassy or consulate of Goa in Malaysia.

2.  The period of conversion is not as simple as listed on the website. It may take 3 to 6 months as someone have posted. There are conversion courses to take. Make sure he does not overstay. Immigration procedures are different from the Religious Department. It is not auto extension of tourist pass even for conversion and marriage. Apply for any Visa required and Long Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP) for the purpose of conversion and marriage.
