I am Filipino. My daughter was born in Malaysia and follows her father's name but we are not married. Now, my kid is studying here in Philippines. Her father was supporting her but now stopped. Is it possible to file a father support? Does anyone know how or any other way for him to take his responsibility? Thanks a lot!

Her citizenship follows you.

Possible but even if you win child support (heavy lawyers fees), it is very difficult to make the father pay. You are not married to him hence cannot claim any alimony or maintenance. Child support maybe only RM500 per month. But getting him to pay is the big issue.

Actually the amount of child support depends on his current income and his current expenses.

Her father was supporting her but now stopped.
What was the reason he stopped?

Thanks for the responses. He has 2 restaurants in Kuala Lumpur and other extra income. I know he is earning a good income now. He stopped supporting for almost 3 months. I still contact him till now but he always say he has no money or just wait, just wait. My daughter is studying here in a private school with a monthly fee of RM200. I told him to at least help me for that monthly fees but he's still ignoring.
