I am a foreign student in Malaysia and opened a bank account with CIMB Islamic in 2016. Today, while I login in the CIMB Clicks, I noticed that there were no details of the available funds or even mention of my account number.

I subsequently called CIMB Customer Helpline and have been accordingly informed that the account has been closed just today. They're unable to provide any further information regarding the reasons behind closure of this account.

While I am still chasing CIMB, I intend to inquire about my legal rights in this matter. Is there any Government Agency where I can take up my case?

I had some funds in the said Account too. How to recover those funds from CIMB?

Please note that I am not a credit card holder neither have any outstanding payments to any Bank in Malaysia.

1. Bring this matter to Bank Negara Malaysia.
2. Banks can close any savings for no activity and send it to Bank Negara.
3. Your account could have stolen for other activities.
4. For CIMB case they may have send you a new card by post. If you have change address without informing the bank then if someone activated it, used it for money laundering and or taken out all funds.

@ jeff005 ... thank you. I don't believe that points 2-4 would apply as I use to keep a weekly check on my account via Online Banking. How to get in contact with Bank Negara? Is there any English-speaking helpline available?

Go direct to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) branches.

Online banking.. hahaha. It can be hacked or hijacked easily as ABC if you ever access it at public places. By activity means money transactions. Why keep checking account while not using it?

Young lady, you don't know how scammers works.
