My dad is 60 years old now. Checked through the Immigration SSPI2 website and stated that 'Please refer to the nearest immigration department'.

History:
Applied housing loan in 1997 around RM115,000 but due to economy crisis, unable to pay. CTOS states 'Bankruptcy-Adjudication Order issued'. Checked Jabatan Insolvensi Malaysia (JIM) website status - No bankruptcy

How should I go about it to check if he is really bankrupt?

HAHAHAHA that heart to heart talk made my day! Cracked me up! Aiya I wish he is as cheerful as you Jeff! He is super (want face aka ego) type you know. Haha

Anyway he does not involved himself in all our property, so i guess he should not be worried about dragging us into the debts. Argh thank god I found this forum! sure, will save your email address and send you an email!

@ Annfong

I choose to answer you here as some issues will help others.

Notes
1.  There is no need to appoint a lawyer to report in or to fight a 20 year old case.
2.  Bank auctions is just a fraction of market value. Read @ fannio for same issues and joint names too.
3.  Read the forms JIM will be giving him to fill. It states BC and K/P of wife and all children to be submitted, no need to declare anything else. His bankruptcy is his, nothing to do with u all. Just standard procedures mainly to claim family living expenses for those bankrupts who have school going children.
4.  After reporting in and if he finds that he cannot afford the Rm50-100, just pay for 1 or 2 months, then stop paying. No work, no money, old health, how to pay? Rest assured his OA will not bother to contact him. There are tens of thousands who stopped paying after a few months or after they have travel overseas. No further issues. There are no penalties or arrests or like bill collectors chasing him.

Your father like me, have 5 children, same age +-, having stupid friends who had advised him (me oso) wrongly. I hid like a wolf for 14 years before coming to this forum in 2014 to learn things from senior forumers like vkpc, notalawyer, Kiki, Gladt, Suzy, Mike, pitstop, kunta_kinta and many others. Get him to come to kl to speak to me, face off and I will brainwash him in 3 hours. Of course he have to pay for the teh tarik.
I shall wash off his face and clear these 20 years of agony mental torture. I can answer all his Qs and disperse all his worries. Trust me.

Two ways only
1.  Report in to JIM in order to Travel, subject to their conditions, if any.
2.  Don't travel and leave things as it is, no further harm or issues.

I am willing to bet a bucket of KFC that they (JIM) cannot find or take months to extract the 20 years ago AO/RO papers.

Just do another wedding ceremony in Malaysia-lah.
More celebration is better.

Ahhh I am relieved! As long as it does not affect our property, it is absolutely fine to give the info needed. Noted, will read up @fannio. My father even told me that they have the rights to arrest him if he is unable to pay which I thought was absurd. Anyway, I must say thanks to this forum  where I can ask questions (some may think that these are stupid questions but it meant alot to me) and the experts for your time to explain all these to me! You guys did not have to do this but you did.

I think everyone makes mistake when they are young but you just have to admit and face it thats what I told my dad. He was too afraid. Back then we were all young and wondered why my mum has to work so hard to support all of us and finally, after so many years, he told us the truth. I am confident now to face it thanks to this forum!

Of course, I am more than happy to treat you KFC or teh tarik if I go KL next month!
