Currently, I am under the akpk program. Its been on going since july 2016. I have just joined a new company and have been told to open a bank account with hsbc for payroll purpose but the staff informed me that I had been blacklisted because of akpk program. Is this true? Doea it mean that I am unable to open any savings or current account in the future? Pls advise. Thnks

You are not blacklisted because of the akpk dmp.
It could have been even before you join akpk.
Things will be back to normal once you completed the DMP.

By right, there should be no problem. You are opening an account for the purpose of salary bank-in and you are not applying for a loan, furthermore you are not a bankrupt.

When you were succesfully enrolled into  the akpk program your name will carry an ''R'' sign within the banking sector. So every names that have ''R'' listed along with their name, the banking sector will know that they are under the akpk program.

Tell the payroll, yes, you are under akpk and ask them to convince the hsbc to open your account, and they could always called the akpk for clarification.

Just personal views

1. Some banks do not want to open savings acs or current acs for those having debts issues even for the purpose of salaries banked. MBB is one of those nasty ones.

2. There is still on going of freezing of salaries accounts due to other unforseen circumstances, from one bank to the other bank. This causes a lot of unproductive and expensive administrative expenses to the banks dealing with the court orders and explosive arguments with the affected account holder.

3. It is the perogative of the bank as to open an ac or not.

4. Try BSN bank easier to open savings ac.
