I moved in to a small room in Sunway area last May. Before moving into the house, I paid a total of RM1,200 for my room rental for the month of May. I was supposed to give the room rental together with the deposit BUT, because I have financial problem, I paid it by installment (3 times). After finish paying for the deposit, I was supposed to get an agreement but until I was "force" to move out, I didn't get any agreement and I didn't get my deposit back. The co-tenant keep on telling me that she will give back my deposit once the owner inspect my room. But its been 4 days since I move out now and there's no news about when the owner gonna inspect and give my deposit back. In this case, what should I do?

I moved in to a small room in Sunway area last May. Before moving into the house, I paid a total of RM1200 for my room rental for the month of May. I was supposed to give the room rental together with the deposit BUT, because I have financial problem, I paid it by installment (3 times). To be honest, I never met the owner. Whatever rental, electricity and internet bills I pay to the co-tenant. After finish paying for the deposit, I was supposed to get an agreement but until we had a big argument last Sunday, I was "force" to move out within 5 working days. I didn't get any agreement and I didn't get my deposit back. The co-tenant keep on telling me that she will give back my deposit once the owner inspect my room. But its been 4 days since I move out now and there's no news about when the owner gonna inspect and give my deposit back.

The only thing why I don't argue much with the co-tenant is because I delay in paying the house deposit. I paid 3 times installment. But When it comes to monthly rental and electricity bills, everything is paid on time. In this case, what should I do?

*sorry I re-edit my situations

If I understand this correctly; the owner has nothing to do with you or with this case. I believe the owner let the whole to the co-tenant and the co-tenant in turn sub-letted a room to you.

Just ask the co-tenant for a final date when the deposit will be returned to you. Else just report to the authority.
