Is there a time limit on when I can apply for a refund of unclaimed moneys held by the Registrar of Unclaimed Moneys? Will my information on the Registrar's database be removed after a particular time?
No, there is no time limit on when the owner can reclaim funds from the Registrar of Unclaimed Moneys.
Any person who has the legal right on unclaimed moneys lodged with the Registrar of Unclaimed Moneys may apply for a refund at any time from the Registrar, provided the necessary documentation is submitted to prove his or her entitlement.
Even if the entity that originally held the unclaimed money has ceased business operations, the money turned over to the Registrar, which acts as custodian of the fund will remain with the Registrar for an indefinite period of time or until a claim is made.
