Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM Berhad)
Also known as the Malaysian Railway in English. A wholly-owned government corporation. The first railway track in Malaysia was built in 1885 linking tin mining town, Taiping to Port Weld. The network grew as Malaysia developed and prospered. At that time, rail services were managed by their respective Malayan states. The rail administration was streamlined with the implementation of the Malayan Railway Ordinance in 1948. The Federated Malay State Railways became the Malayan Railway Administration which upon corporatisation on August 1, 1992 under the Railways act 1991, renamed KTM Berhad (Keretapi Tanab Melayu). KTM's core businesses are freight (containerised, conventional, international and landbridge), passenger and commuter services. The KTM's official website features travel infor (conditions, customer charter, intercity/holiday package, commuter package ronda-ronda, rail holiday and rail pass), e-ticket, freight online, commuter train (KTM Komuter) timetable and fare.
