Also known as the Malaysian Railway in English. A wholly-owned government corporation. The first railway track in Malaysia was built in 1885 linking tin mining town, Taiping to Port Weld. The network grew as Malaysia developed and prospered. At that time, rail services were managed by their respective Malayan states. The rail administration was streamlined with the implementation of the Malayan Railway Ordinance in 1948. The Federated Malay State Railways became the Malayan Railway Administration which upon corporatisation on August 1, 1992 under the Railways act 1991, renamed KTM Berhad (Keretapi Tanab Melayu). KTM's core businesses are freight (containerised, conventional, international and landbridge), passenger and commuter services. Kongsi Kereta is a free of charge community service developed as a means to provide an avenue for commuters within the Klan Valley to find travel companions via a virtual notice-board with the objective to reduce travelling costs, congestion and pollution in the city. It is hope that people will start to car-pool and experience for themselves the benefits of car-pooling and the positive effect it would have on the environment and the daily traffic. Motorists can gather information on the routes and timetable of others. They can also request for male or female car owners, or if they are offering car pool services.

Formerly known as Rangkaian Segar Sdn Bhd. Touch 'n Go Sdn Bhd (TNGSB) is the operator of Touch 'n Go, SmartTAG (Sistem Membayar Automatic Rangkaian Tol) and The Central Clearing House System (CCHS).
