Commonly known as the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) in English. Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) was constituted and vested with an executive powers on January 1, 1952, after initially undergoing an experimental stage known as the Dayak Local Authority from January 1, 1950 to December 31, 1951. The whole area of Sibu Rural District Council lies within the Sibu District Administrative, Division with the recent inclusion of Selangau District into SRDC jurisdiction in 2002. The functions of SRDC include providing adequate basic infrastructures such as construction and improvement of rural roads, bridges, plank walks and jetties; providing an adequate public amenities such as public latrines libraries, playground and rural community halls; landscaping & maintaining public places such as open spaces, road-verges, the surrounding environment around the ferry points & Durin Bazaar; installing & providing street lighting services; and providing extensive coverage of scavenging services.

Also known as the Lubok Antu District Council in English. The Majlis Daerah Lubok Antu (MDLA) is a local government organisation formed in 1957 under the State Govenment's Local Authorities Ordinance, 1956. As an agency under the Ministry of Environment and Public Health of Sarawak, MDLA is also responsible for the planning and development of the rural areas in Lubok Antu. The functions of MDLA include dealing with tax payment, licensing, building rental, licence application, building plan, processing and citizenship certificate; managing waste disposal; road maintenance; food cleanliness control and control of infectious diseases; providing library services; and dealing with related law enforcement acts.
